Estimation of Mining-Induced Horizontal Strain Tensor of Land Surface Applying InSAR

Horizontal strains related to mining-induced subsidence may endanger infrastructure and surface users’ safety. While directional horizontal should be well determined, appropriate solutions for a complete assessment of the terrain deformation field are still required. As result, presented study examined new method calculating strain tensor based on decomposition satellite radar interferometry (InSAR) observations into vertical azimuth look direction (ALD) displacements. Based geometric integral model, we tested our experimental data before applying it an underground copper ore mine in Poland. In case study, displacement was determined using Multi-Temporal InSAR Sentinel-1 data. The model relative error did not exceed 0.02 at ? = ±0.003. For land up ?167 mm ALD displacements ranging from ?110 +62 obtained, whereas extreme values ranged ?0.52 mm/m +0.36 ±0.050 mm/m. Our results demonstrate high accuracy determining tensor. approach can broaden environmental impact worldwide.
